Aferdita Hakaj joined Poly Prep’s Advancement Office in 2022 to reenergize the Art Center Campaign and Party Book community-building initiative. In 2023, she was named Director of Annual Giving. With 20 years of experience in independent schools and human rights/humanitarian affairs, she brings a wealth of interdisciplinary skills. Aferdita studied International Affairs, Economics, and Law at John Jay College, Cambridge University, and Penn State Dickinson Law School.
Her career journey began as a curious young girl determined to make an impact, learning that effective policy implementation is driven by those committed to a greater purpose. Advancing Poly’s mission to ‘prepare and inspire the next diverse generation of leaders and global citizens to act with intelligence, imagination, and—above all—character,’ Aferdita believes that people are at the heart of the school. In her role, she fosters community by forging meaningful partnerships among students, families, alumni, faculty/staff, and friends. She aims to create a strong, collaborative environment for all of Poly to thrive.
Aferdita enjoys traveling, immersing herself in other cultures, outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming, as well as cooking, entertaining, reading, and expressive artistry.
